This was the best safari we’ve ever done together. There is nothing Elfreda and I love more than going on safari and Etosha National Park in Namibia was absolutely incredible. We’ve never seen more animals on a safari than we did in Etosha. We spent five days on safari in the park – three days camping in Olifantsrus Camp and two days camping in Okaukuejo Camp. Our favourite was Olifantsrus Camp because it’s a small camp with only ten camp sites. There were no more than 3 or 4 other campers during the time we were there so it was very quiet and peaceful. Okaukuejo Camp is very busy in comparison with tourist buses, overland group tours and heaps of day visitors. We did, however, enjoy the delicious buffet at the Okaukuejo restaurant after cooking our own food during our stay at Olifantsrus. The grocery selection is very limited at Olifantsrus Camp so you must plan ahead and bring what you’ll want to eat during your visit. There is also a small kiosk that sells drinks and small meals but they were out of some things during the time we were there so our choice was very limited.
Elfreda and I saw tons of animals during our stay in Etosha. A lot! We also witnessed some incredible interactions between the animals and some very interesting animal behaviour. We were very lucky to be able to see lions everyday we were in the park. We’ve been on safaris in the past where we didn’t see lions for days but not this time. We were able to get beautiful photos of lions, elephants, zebras, springboks, jackals, wildebeest, the spotted hyena, the brown hyena, the African ground squirrel, the Kori Bustard, scorpions, the southern yellow-billed hornbill bird, and the elusive endangered black rhino.
We would go back to Etosha National Park in a heartbeat. Elfreda and I loved every minute of our time there. We would highly recommend doing a safari in Etosha.
These are just some of our photos from our time in Etosha. Hope you enjoy them!
