Before we even talk about this beautiful fall wedding, we have to say something about the wedding venue itself. We absolutely love it! It’s definitely our favourite farm wedding venue and barn wedding venue, and also one of our favourite Pearle hospitality wedding venues. In our opinion, it’s probably the most beautiful farm wedding venue or barn wedding venue in Ontario. The food, planning and service are all outstanding, 5 stars! If you are looking for a farm wedding venue with an outdoor ceremony space set amongst willow trees and overlooking the Halton escarpment this is the perfect wedding venue for you. It’s a short drive outside the GTA. It’s located just off of Highway 6 South and it’s a hop, skip and a jump from Hamilton. The address is in Millgrove but it’s also sometimes listed as being in Flamborough or Waterdown. The main thing to know is it isn’t far from the Hamilton area and it also isn’t that far from Highway 401 if you have guests driving in from Mississauga or even Toronto.
Now this particular wedding was a very beautiful and fun wedding day. Our couple just didn’t get the perfect weather they would have loved to have for their wedding day. It was a very rainy and windy fall day in late October. You never know for sure what kind of weather you will get in the month of October in southern Ontario until just before your wedding day. It’s very unpredictable. We’ve had beautiful warm days that felt like late summer, rain and windy days like this one and even a snowy day or two over the years. Luckily, they were able to move their ceremony inside the barn. They were able to rearrange some of the tables to create a seated ceremony space close the Mill grove large windows with lots of light coming in. That was only possible because they didn’t have a large guest count. If a couple had a full guest count for the maximum of the venue there would have been many more tables in the reception space of the barn and it would be more difficult to move them out of the way. Now, we’ve also photographed a wedding there that had to move inside due to the rain on the wedding day but due to the large guest count they had to create the ceremony seating near the front of the barn where it is darker because it is farther from the window light.
We were very happy that we did get a couple breaks from the rain on Erin and Brock’s wedding day so we were able to go outside for their couple portraits, family portraits and their bridal party portraits. If we are able to still do all of those photos outside on a rainy and windy day, we consider that a big win. The other thing that made getting outside possible and having the time for photos is the fact the couple did a first look before their ceremony. The first look always gives a couple more time for photos on their wedding day and opens up another window of time for outdoor photos on a day that could be very difficult to be able to get outside due to the weather. If it rains after a couple’s ceremony during the time they would want to take photos at least a couple that did a first look would likely already have some outside couple portraits and possibly even their bridal party and family portraits done. Portraits outside in natural light are always better than photos taken inside, especially if artificial lighting such as using a flash is necessary. In the end we are super happy we were able to capture so many beautiful bride and groom portraits outside for Erin and Brock and also get some fun and beautiful bridal party portraits, too.
